first you need to tie your hair in a ponytail and hold it with hairspray. then you need to twist your hair and then wrap it around the beggining of the tail hold it in with pins or sparkly clips and hairspray it down.

I danced for 17 years, and i'd highly suggest something simpler for a dance recital, esp. if you're doing it yourself. I always found a simple bun or a french braid worked best to keep the hair away from your face, and keep it there. You want the focus to be on YOU, not your hairstyle. good luck with your performance!

I LOVE the first one...used to do this on my best friend's hair. Put some gel or styling cream in your hair when wet. After you blow it out, gather in a high ponytail as smoothly as you can. Take the end of the ponytail, and wrap the elastic around it one more time (so you basically have a hair "loop"). Then, take hair colored hairpins and fan your hair out over the top and sides and pin down. That's what gives you that smooth mound of hair. Finish with a tiara. If it's for dance, I'm sure you know that it's gotta be super-secure and sprayed down.

Good luck in your recital!
