From black hair color to lighter?

hi there i have been dyeing my hair black for 3 years.

i went to the hairdresser first she told me it will take 2-3 years to get that same color!!!!

thats too long! i know its not going to happen the same day but at least a month or two??

she told me that she will lighten my hair 2-3 tones first to a brown color.

my question is has anyone done this and if so what are the steps to achieving this color.after she lightens my hair 3 tones what next?

This is an awful mistake to have to make - to colour one's hair black.

The only thing you can do is wait for it to grow out or follow your hairdresser's advice.

Going black is about the worst thing a woman can do. It's so permanent and difficult to fix.

Good luck - you may need time and patience but it will come right in the end.

do what your hairdresser says or your hair could end up screwing up if you do it yourself

well you really dont have to wait three years it will cost alot of money this way but if you get your hair bleached then colored it would work which if you dont wanna wait 3 years for i suggest

if you condition with PROFESSIONAL TREATEMTS!!! She can lighten it easier!

What most people dont know is BLACK is the hardest color to remove {so think twice} ESPECIALLY if you dyed it at home!!!! The box colors are very harsh....the day you want to make a drastic change it will COST TIME %26amp; MONEY %26amp; ALOT OF CONDITIONING!

sooo condition, grow your hair, and cut what is unhealthy - THIS WILL GET YOU CLOSER TO THE LOOK YOU WANT goodluck :)

Dye is really hard on the hair. I think you could find a hairdresser who could strip your hair of all its color, then color it the shade you want.

Just be aware that stripping is very hard on the hair but it can be done. I went from brown to blond and that's what they did to me, strip the brown then recolor. Good luck!

I suggest you dont do it yourslef otherwise you'll wreck your hair really badly and it will turn like and orangey discusting colour....just spend the money and go to a stylist...if they all say that it takes 2 years to come out then you should of thought harder if you really wanted your hair black

When i dyed my hair black i just went to the hairdresser and she bleached my hair a couple times until it was a light reddish brown. Then i waited a month with that color and then dyed it medium brown and everything turned out fine. You don't have to wait 3 years.
